The Shockwave - Contact from Space

More from Finland! Double Crown was so excited about The Shockwave's last release that they brought them onto their roster. Mine's on the way through the Double Crown Music Club and will be my first exposure to them, but they've put up a live preview of some of the tracks on this album over on the youtube

Aloha Screwdriver - One Too Many

Just lookit that cover art! I love it! Aloha Screwdriver have released a new 4-song EP on purple and black vinyl. They've got one of the tracks on soundcloud and it's nice and punchy.

Sun Conscious

Sun Conscious is a two-some playing pretty out-there semi-surf. Think Sun City Girls/Sir Richard Bishop and I think you're on the right track. It's slow, moody, but there's plenty in there for surf fans to grab onto.

Guantanamo Baywatch Thursday at Siberia

Surf nuts don't usually have a lot of options in New Orleans (though you do have local options The Unnaturals, The Bills, Bruiser Broussard, Blood Urchin and Rondo Hatton in Baton Rouge) but this week we've got two visiting. Two sorta surf bands. I figure it's enough to make a post about.

The Charades - All Around the World With

Just as the tradition of surf rock continues today, so does the very similar tradition of Rautalanka continue in Finland. What especially impresses me is that despite how thin and glassy a lot of the 60's rautalanka can be, modern groups seem to all be very slick and prettty.
