Viernes De Hongos

Viernes de Hongos release The Return of the Champiñons

The second release from Viernes de Hongos brings in 6 songs full of mood and mystery. Their 2014 release was a bit more menacing, with a lot more fuzz, but this one has a bit more variety. "Agente Naranja" and "Numeros Rojos" are the boldest, but don't sleep on the creepy "Beso del Payaso". They've also got a cool cover of Rocket Man in "Popurusso".

Reviews! Viernes de Hongos, Sub-Vectors and BEACHMOVER

Most of what I post are announcements about new surf music. They're often mistaken for reviews, and often I may insert a little opinion, but they're only meant to let you know that it exists. But every once in a while I do  want you to know how I feel about a record. I don't necessarily think I'm good at it, but here goes anyway, thoughts on three records I've been listening to recently.

New videos from Johnny Carbonaras and Viernes De Hongos

I pointed out the strangeness of Johnny Carbonaras' album cover in my  and they've stayed pretty weird here - and they're consistent in their fascination with piles of stringy stuff. Today they're not so much knitting with it, but eating it.

Meanwhile, Viernes de Hongos have gone for a bit of an Ed Wood vibe in their video - and maybe even a smidge of Beastie Boys. Pretty silly stuff
