The Terrorsaurs release Atomic Lizard Party

Terrorsaurs - Atomic Lizard Party

The Terrorsaurs have a rare reptilian take on surf - though tracks such as Avalanche, Himalayan Surf, Moose Call and Apache Bear may suggest otherwise. Perhaps it's true that dinosaurs are warm blooded, which would excuse the cold-themed songs. Perhaps Terrorsaurs eat mooses and bears. I don't know.

Back to business. I believe the special guests are imaginary (I tried looking them up) and the whole thing is pretty fun and goofy, though with a creepy, dark vibe throughout as well.

Grand Kahuna release Grand Kanuna II EP

Grand Kahuna - Grand Kahuna II

The saxophone seems to divide surf fans, but Grand Kahuna know exactly where they lie in the argument: they've got two of them. I really liked their last record, especially their longer takes on songs like Surf Beat. These are all covers again, they're shorter and there's less of them but they make them fresh! Glad to see more from them!

Edit: As pointed out in the comments, they've expanded this one to 8 tracks! Yes!

Chinese surf band spotted! Shanghai's The Psyders

Surf has inarguably found its way far past the borders of the US let alone California. Even in the 60s, many different cultures across the globe showed that they were listening to The Ventures or The Shadows. However, the most populous nation on the planet is almost completely devoid of surf or instrumental rock & roll both now and historically. Even Malaysia had a surprisingly strong Shadows-influenced scene, but it never caught on in China.

Los Daytonas release En el Salvaje Oeste!! 7"

Los Daytonas - En el Salvaje Oeste!! 7"

For a while this one was only available in person or in Spanish record stores, but it looks like there's now a few more options. They don't drop their excellent surf twang, but they head out for that lonely, desolate western tone and pace. More quality stuff from a quality group.
