The Woodchucks (Lee Hazelwood) - Cruising for Surf Bunnies

The Woodchucks (Lee Hazelwood) - Cruising for Surf Bunnies

Lee Hazelwood is behind some iconic surf/instro records from the likes of The Astronauts, Al Casey and Duane Eddy. He wrote “Baja”. But to the rest of the world that’s a footnote in his career after things took off with Nancy Sinatra’s “The boots are made for walking”. Light in the Attic has been rooting through the Lee Hazelwood archives, re-releasing out-of-print material and releasing things that never saw the light of day.

The Deadly Ones - Monster Surfing Time reissued

Deadly Ones - Monster Surfing TIme

The well-loved but tough-to-find "Monster Surfing Time" by the Deadly Ones is finally seeing a vinyl rerelease courtesy of the Concord Records - from what I can tell its first since 1964 when Vee-Jay originally released it. A mint copy of this sells for around $200, with VG copies going for $50, so this should be much easier. This reissue will feature translucent slime green vinyl to add to the horror. Not much is known of the players on this one other than Joe South, but it's a must-play for any Halloween instro-set with some creepy effects alongside cheesy vocal moans and yowls.

The Treble Spankers' Hasheeda and Araban reissued!

The Treble Spankers - Araban/Hasheeda

I did not see this coming! The Treble Spankers' long-out-of-print and hard-to-find albums Araban and Hasheeda have been collected onto a double album AND Hasheeda has been reissued on (pricey) vinyl. If you're unfamiliar, this is pre-Phantom Four Phantom Frank with similar middle eastern influence and flair.
