It's been a quiet couple of weeks in terms of surf releases. So while searching for more juicy Thai and Cambodian music in advance of an upcoming vacation, I stumbled upon a killer instrumental record I'd never heard of before.

It's been slow finding new surf to play, but that doesn't mean the show itself is slowing down! Oughta be bright and active the whole way through
Here's what we had last week
3/28/16
the tremolo beer gut - le jacquet (Under the Covers With...)
mach kung fu - hot doggin (teach a chick to dance)
sir bald diddley and his honourable big-wigs - the happy surfer (what's in the fridge)
the arrows - tee pee (apache '65)
laika & the cosmonauts - surf-ro-mania (zero gravity)
Well this past week didn't yield all that much new material, but it looks beautiful outside and I've got plenty of stuff that oughta sound just perfect. That's all we can really ask for, right? Got a good chunk of the weird stuff too.
As for last week:

For such a populous part of the world, it's REALLY hard to find a Chinese surf band (I'm counting Taiwan). Los Coronados are particularly interesting though, perhaps more than meets the eye. These guys claim that they are actually Los Coronados Jr., the grandsons of the original Tawianese surf band Los Coronados back in 1965. This is supposedly the digitized reel-to-reels of their original 1965 recording.
I don't buy it.
At some point I decided this radio show needed a website. Then I figured this website should, you know, have stuff on it. I was already looking for more surf rock every morning so I thought "why not let others know".
Since then stormsurgeofreverb.com has kind of taken on a life of its own independent of the radio show. It's been a lot of work, but it's rewarding, and I think it serves a unique purpose for people interested in instro music.
