I've been bristling with excitement over getting my hands on another Krontjong Devils release. They've got a great, distinct tone, great energy and songs, great choices of covers and a few originals like "The Rafter" that are practically modern surf classics. So today is the offical release date of their Action! 10" record on Kuriosa Records.

Is one zombie frightening? No, you need many zombies, hordes of them! Which is why I'm calling on you to help out with the annual Hollereen Show on October 27th! For the past few years I've had listeners call in to the FRIGHT LINE and record death threats, spooky noises, werewolf snarls, and occasionally cute kids.. You can still do that! The number to call is (504) 457-8126. But now there's the option to upload it here as well...
Personally, I choose robot. I love robots. Urban Surf Kings have been churning out releases like clockwork for over 15 years now, including side projects from Rev. Hank, but I believe this one has been in the works for a good while (their recording diary starts January 1st 2013). The format here is a little different: 4-song 7" vinyl that includes a download code for those 4 songs plus another 4. So 8 songs total, but only 4 on digital media.
los wet guitars - el barco (majestic)
the tandems - the rising surf (lost legends of surf guitar)
the trashmen - tube city (surfin' bird)
El Toro! - KFM (creatures)
paul revere & the raiders - orbit (45)
dick wolfe and the wolverines - sigma 7 (45)
the tramps - maharadja (surfin' on wave nine)
jim waller and the deltas - work song (surfin' wild)
the soul surfers - home from camp (45)
sex on the beach - 1 oz peach schanps (do you wanna some sex on the beach)
the sidemen - gibraleon (go too far!)
Dirty Fuse's previous album Surfbetika was definitely worth a listen: it seamlessly gave a surf twang to Greek rebetika songs. They're back to business hittin the surf with Last Wave, though they're still clearly up for a challenge. In this quick listen as I'm posting this I'm hearing LOTS of interesting saxophone, a mix of fuzz, glassy euro-styled guitar, some good ol' deep twangin'.. and that's just a start.
