Germany's The Coconuts play by-the-books trad surf originals with the exception one of one reggae-influenced track (influenced is the key word, still for surf fans). The slower tunes were just as pleasing to me as the fast ones, with solid guitar melodies throughout backed up by energetic percussion.

Expressway Sketches is comprised of a group of accomplished jazz musicians that found themselves falling into a surf rock habit. Which lead to the LP you have here. From the bits that I've heard, it sounds like it should be comfortable listening for a lot of surf fans, with moments where it warps a little and brings you into jazz territory.

Last time we heard from the The Okay-Men I did some sleuthwork into figuring out just who these mystery men were. Looks like this isn't a one-off side project though, we've got a full LP and in the quick sample listen I did this morning I'd say it's the best Okay/Boo-Men material yet. It's faster, harder, but it's still got plenty of that pogo pseudo-polka beat.

Perhaps I'm missing their long and storied history, but I have a feeling that the "Best Of" here is by default, and that they're playing a joke like the Crazy Aces' Greatest Hits Volume 2 (their first album).

Los Apollos have released a 3-song EP called Testflug 3

The band says you can find it on Spotify or iTunes though it looks like some of the songs are up on Soundcloud as well

I haven't gotten a hold of any of BANG! MUSTANG!'s releases in the past but now might be the time for me to rectify that.
