Storm Surge of Reverb

Previously as part of the Gremmy Awards I released a big list of every surf release that I had come across in the past year. This year I decided to keep it as a rolling, consistently updated list. It's less fun at the end of the year, but it's more helpful this way.

A few things to note:

• Must have been released in 2023.
• Inclusion on this list does not mean that I've listened to it.
• Exclusion from this list could mean I don't know about it, that I haven't updated it yet, or it could be an error! Either way, contact me!
• Bolded means I've reviewed it.
• I don't include single song releases. It's just too much to keep track of.
• First issues only unless it's been years since the first issue. What I'm trying to say is, if your album came out digitally in 2022 but vinyl came out in 2023, I consider that a 2022 release.
• My definition of an LP means either 8 songs or a half hour of music. I have to draw the line somewhere! Also if a band calls an album an EP despite fulfilling those requirements, I call it an EP.
• Must be at least 50% instrumental.
• I try to be generous, but my defintion of surf is ultimately my own.
