Here's every surf record released in 2024 that I could find

BASK IN THE GLORY OF SURF MUSIC!

This is an annual attempt to list everything that could reasonably be called surf music within this year. It's never perfect for many reasons, but it's always a very nice way to demonstrate that surf music is very much alive and well. Last year I had this as a list that was viewable throughout the year, I meant to do that this year but here we are in December!

There are a few notes and rules:

  • I don't include single-song releases. It would just get impossible at that point.
  • It must have been released in 2024. If it was digitally released in 2023 but vinyl came out in 2024, I still call that a 2023 release. If there's more than a year gap, I'll call that a reissue.
  • Inclusion on this list does not mean that I've listened to it, and it certainly doesn't mean that I liked it.
  • Exclusion from this list could mean I don't know about it, that I haven't updated it yet, or it could be an error! Either way,
  • This is mostly bandcamp because that's where I discover music the most. It's not a requirement!
  • Must be at least 50% instrumental.
  • I try to be generous, but my defintion of surf is ultimately my own.
  • Bolded stuff means I reviewed it on this site.

LPs

My definition of LP for the sake of this list is 8 or more songs or over 30 minutes in length. And if a band calls it an EP despite that, I'll call that an EP.

EPS and MIni-LPs

That means 2-7 songs, under 30 minutes.

AI

I've begrudgingly added a new category. There are mostly here to explain why they aren't in the other categories and to ward people away from them. I do not have official confirmation that any of these are artificially generated, but I'd say I'm at least 80% confident that they are.
