If you take a look at the "More Surf Radio" corner of the front page, you'll see the Reverb Hour put on by Cousin Mary. She does a much better job than I do about giving something cool to her station's supporters. Combo Swell is a huge compilation of (excellent) surf groups recorded on KFJC or at KFJC events between 1996 and 2014. It's also got some killer artwork done by Fred Lammers, who's everywhere in surf rock but off the top of my head you might recognize from Frankie & the Poolboys' Adventures of Captain Coconuts (who appear on this comp!)
Here's the full lineup. Again, these aren't just CD cuts, these are recorded by KFJC!
- Mermen: Curve
- The Whys: Satsujin Taiyo
- Pollo Del Mar: Pose of Awareness
- Tomorrowmen: El Condor Pasa
- Frankie and the Pool Boys: Dreams
- The Berzerkers: Mung Taco
- Bradipos IV: Wray-Man
- Surfside IV: Meat Saw
- The Deadbeats: Ichabob Crane
- Mighty Surf Lords: Six Gun Surfer
- Los Venturas: Delirium
- El Ray: Twang Am
- Aloha Screwdriver: Eating, Drinking, and Killing
- Tequila Worms: Unsteady
- Three Balls of Fire: Jet Set Guitars
- Martin Cilia: Return of the Surf Guitar
- The Insect Surfers: Space Park Drive
- Trivalve: Buddy
- The Kilaueas: Universal Spy
You can get it by making a $45+ donation to KFJC here. That may sound a little steep, but being in the same biz, a non-profit radio station has to sell items like this for a disproportionate amount (it's the law). So the bulk of what you're paying is to keep surf on the airwaves, you just happen to get a killer CD with it.
